Earlier this year we had the privilege of working with Suffolk Fostering and Adoption Services on a meaningful campaign designed to help recruit more foster carers across the region. After the project wrapped, Rachel from the team recorded a video testimonial about her experience working with us – and we couldn’t be more grateful for her thoughtful words.

Recruitment within fostering is never just a “numbers” challenge. It’s deeply personal, nuanced, and rooted in lived experience. Rachel spoke openly about the ongoing struggle many fostering teams face in finding the right people – those who have the patience, compassion, and commitment to step forward. Traditional recruitment methods can only go so far when what really matters is being able to connect with someone’s heart.

Why Video Matters in Storytelling

Rachel explained that Suffolk Fostering and Adoption Services had used video in the past and seen just how powerful it can be in engaging the community, especially across social media. When people can see and hear real foster carers, it becomes much easier to understand the difference they make.

That’s why, for this project, we worked with multiple foster carers to capture their lived experiences in their own words. Their stories are honest, emotional, and deeply human. They communicate something that brochures and text alone simply can’t.

Rachel highlighted they use video across:

  • Website content

  • Recruitment events

  • Email outreach

  • Social media platforms

For public sector organisations in general, this approach is increasingly essential. Video helps lift the curtain and show the real people and real work happening behind the scenes. It builds trust. It builds understanding. And in fostering, it can help spark that vital moment of “Could I do this too?”

Creative Challenges and Thoughtful Solutions

One important challenge in fostering communications is protecting the identity and privacy of children in care. Rachel spoke about how we worked closely with her team to find creative solutions to this. We developed visuals and narrative structures that respected every boundary ─ while still representing the heart of each story being shared.

This is where careful filmmaking really matters: capturing authenticity, without ever compromising care.

“A Dream to Work With”

Rachel also shared that she had worked with us previously and spoke positively about the experience. We’re genuinely grateful for that. Projects like this require trust, collaboration, and sensitivity — and we’re honoured to have had the opportunity to support this campaign once again.

Watch the Testimonial

We could talk about this project all day — but Rachel says it best in her own words.

If your public sector organisation is looking to communicate impact, tell complex human stories, or improve engagement, video can be one of the most powerful tools you have. We’d be happy to talk about how to make that work for your team and your mission.
