The CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) is the independent specialist aviation regulator for the UK. The primary role of the CAA is to maintain flight safety and airspace policy across the UK’s airspace. As modern life gets more complicated, airports expanding, increased air traffic and leaps in technology adapt and change aircrafts. The CAA has the task to maintain safety in the skies thus ensuring the public are kept safe from potential dangers. To achieve their goal, they not only review but create legislation for the safe aviation going forward. They are the governing body that we apply to for a license to fly our Unmanned Aircraft System or Drone.  With the changing legislation it is important that we keep up with regulation to continue flying our Drones in a safe manner. The CAA regularly audit pilots to ensure they are up to date and flying within the regulations.

In early January, we were audited by the CAA – and as such we are proud to say we have passed. They were incredibly thorough, diligently going through all of our paperwork from our last 3 commercial flights. Making sure our planning was accurate, our hazard perception for perceived dangers is acceptable, ensuring we have all our ID’s and flight permissions.

It was a daunting task to gather all the information, but we are incredibly proud of our team and their diligence with keeping all our flight records. We are able to ensure we are prioritising safety whilst delivering quality Ariel shots.

Drones add a sense of scale to video’s which gives audiences another level of context, a wider sense of the story. They can also create some really engaging and dynamic visuals, with improving technology the gimbals can create 360 degree shots, which can move in multiple axis’s as the same time.

There are lots of different techniques for flying which can make some very interesting visual effects, finding creative ways to push the story forward.

We are excited to carry on using Ariel shots to add depth to our videos, providing our clients with additional value.  Whilst keeping the public and those uninvolved people

safe. For more of our drone work checkout our showreel below:
