Branded Content

What is Branded Content?
Branded content is a strategic communication approach where an organisation creates or sponsors high-quality, narrative-driven media that prioritises storytelling over direct promotion. Unlike traditional "hard sell" public service announcements that might focus purely on a call to action—such as "Pay your tax" or "Get your flu jab"—branded content aims to entertain, educate, or inspire. For the public sector, this often takes the form of success stories: documentary-style videos, with real people and real stories.
The public sector is increasingly exploring branded content because it excels at building long-term trust. Producing content that leaves a lasting positive impression for audiences creates a deeper connection and provides them value. Using relatable voices and stories helps audiences want to engage with the organisation, rather than ignore them.

Suffolk Fostering Service
Suffolk Fostering Service were looking for a Christmas advert to inspire the public of Suffolk to open their homes and foster. With a tag line “#All children want is a place to belong”. Adults often relive the wonder through the eyes of their children. So showing the happiness in a foster child as they get to help pick a tree and then decorate it allows adults to relive the sense of magic of Christmas time.
Our premium packages will deliver additional content, upto 5 shorter videos. Which can allow you to add more videos across your website and social media.
Case Study : Ipswich Cancer Ward

Ward Walkthrough
The walkthrough video serves many different functions for the Woolverstone Ward.
The unknown can be very scary, especially after diagnosis. So anything that sheds light on what to expect and what actions people can take next reduces anxiety and provides set expectations. The video allows viewers to see the ward, the nurses that will be helping them and gain valuable information about what to expect. Arming the patient and family with valuable information.
Additionally, familiarising patients with the space, toilets, treatment bays and kitchen can reduce the need for nurses to give physical tours. Even if half the patients decide to still have in person tours of the ward, the nurses have saved hours of time. Time they can spend checking in a supporting patients.

Tailored Treatments
Outlining the process for patients will not only reduce anxiety at the unknown, but also give the patients confidence in their treatment plan. The cancer treatments are not an off the shelf medication. They are tailored, made especially in clean room environments to eliminate any contaminants. Although they are made on site, it is a complex and time consuming process to make sure not only the medication is accurate and made correctly but also safely.
Inevitable, with lots of patients, lots of custom made medications. There are bound to be moments of hold ups. By outlining the process and preparing people’s expectations, they will be much more forgiving. Waiting for something to happen with no information can be frustrating and scary, but if we let patients know more about the process we can reduce that frustration and protect staff.
Our premium packages will deliver additional content, upto 5 shorter videos. Which can allow you to add more videos across your website and social media.

Challenges
We were working on a busy working ward, with patients still undergoing treatment. Therefore we split this up into 3 separate half day shoots. The ward staggers their patient intake, so it was more convenient to work from early in the morning through until lunch time. After lunch nearly all beds would be full and filming would become significantly harder.
Filming across multiple departments meant we also needed to find an appropriate time to film with the pharmacy. They preferred filming in the afternoon on a Friday. They wouldn’t be expecting to make medications, but we still had to adhere to their health and safety protocols and be conscious about any potential contaminants we were bringing into their spaces. Unfortunately we were unable to get right into the main clean room, but they have cameras set up, so we were able to provide us with some of their footage.
There were certainly challenges with scripting. The medication and process can be incredibly technical. We had to keep it informative and accurate whilst keeping it understandable and engaging.

Interviews with Foster Carers
Short term Care
In 2023, with a rise in the amount of children in need of care and dwindling families offering placements The Suffolk Fostering Service made a video campaign to inspire more families to offer placements.
The service was getting some great results from getting real carers to attend meetings and events to talk about their real lived experience. but the long term costs for the carers was building to an unsustainable level.
With Video, we could capture these stories and then not only share them across digital platforms but also arm staff going to events providing heartfelt and real stories whilst saving the foster carers time.
"Video is really powerful for the public sector"

Kinship Care
There are many different types of foster care. Sometimes the information can be a little over whelming. When deciding which carers to interview, we talked to carers which cover differing types of fostering. That way we can break down some of the information, answer frequently asked questions and remove some of the boundaries that may stop people becoming foster carers.
Often the carer’s stories are as unique as the children they care for. They signed up thinking they would provide a certain type of care. But through conversations, options and after learning more they are happy trying different types of fostering.

Teenagers
Safe guarding throughout the project was one of our biggest concerns. We knew we wouldn’t be able to film with children in care. So we had to come up with creative solutions. We filmed interviews with our foster carers and planned the cut away shots we needed. We completed several shoots with the children of members of the team. Recreating many of the moments the carers talked about.
We also filmed as many objects that we could which would represent the children, capturing their spaces and hobbies. It was a central theme that children who have grown up in challenging circumstances really appreciate the small moments. Opportunities and chances that they hadn’t had before.
"I would definitely recommend using Offset Films"

Rememeber to maximise your content.
Often when capturing content, we need to capture lots of activities and different backgrounds. Inevitably some of those shots might not make it into the final edit, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have value. We can always use those other shots in other ways to create additional content.
