Catching the Suffolk Sunshine: How We Helped Volt Electrical Power Up Ipswich YM Rugby Club

As the summer sun beams down across Suffolk, there's never been a better time to talk about the power of solar—quite literally! We recently had the absolute pleasure of teaming up with the fantastic team at Volt Electrical to capture a brilliant solar installation project at Ipswich YM Rugby Club.
This project was incredibly special to us because it doesn't just highlight the immense benefits of renewable energy; it showcases the vital role sustainability plays in keeping our beloved local community clubs running strong.
Shining a Light on Community Sustainability
Volt Electrical approached us to help tell the inspiring story behind their latest installation. Their mission? To design and fit a commercial solar power system that would help the rugby club drastically reduce its energy costs and take a massive leap toward a more sustainable future.
The Grass roots Energy Challenge
Like many grass roots sports clubs across the UK, Ipswich YM Rugby Club faces the heavy burden of rising energy bills. This is especially true during autumn and winter when the massive floodlights are switched on for evening training sessions and match days.
By harnessing clean solar energy during the day, the club can now offset those hefty evening power needs. It is a genuine win-win for both the environment and the club’s monthly budget, ensuring more resources can go right back into the sport and the community.
The Club can now become a much better asset for the community, with a lower cost of energy - the costs to allowing the local community to hire the space is significantly reduced. They can also offer Carbon credits to other businesses, money which can then be re-invested back into the community.
How We Captured the Project: From the Ground to the Skies
To truly bring this project to life, the Offset Films crew combined our high-end aerial drone services with dynamic ground filming. Our goal wasn't just to show what Volt Electrical had done—but why it mattered so deeply to the club.
Elevating the Story with Drone Videography
Our licensed drone pilots took to the clear Suffolk skies to capture stunning, sweeping wide shots of the brand-new solar panels glinting under the summer sun. Seeing the scale of the installation from above instantly gives viewers a sense of the project's impact and professionalism.
Ground Filming and Authentic Storytelling
Back on solid ground, we focused on the heart of the club. We captured up-close, engaging interviews and real-world context to weave a narrative that resonates on an emotional level. By blending these majestic aerial views with human-centric ground footage, we created a complete, polished story that Volt Electrical can be proud of for years to come.
Crafting Multi-Platform Content for Maximum Impact
Great video content is only effective if people see it in the right format. We worked closely with the Volt team to ensure the final assets were meticulously optimised for maximum reach across all of their digital marketing channels.
Social Media Reels & Stories: We crafted bespoke edits tailored in vertical aspect ratios perfect for Instagram Stories, LinkedIn posts, and Facebook Reels. This allows Volt to engage audiences right where they are already scrolling.
Website Header Video: We produced a sleek, high-impact cinematic banner video for the homepage of their website to instantly grab the attention of new visitors.
Promotional Photography: Alongside the video assets, we captured high-resolution promotional photographs for their case studies and future print or digital marketing.
Looking Ahead to a Brighter Future
The response to this campaign has been absolutely fantastic. For us, this project stands as the perfect example of how green technology can empower local organisations—helping them stay switched on, both literally and figuratively.
