We recently had the absolute pleasure of heading into the theatre to film CTC’s latest production—the timeless classic, The Wizard of Oz.

CTC is a wonderful Suffolk-based children’s theatre company, and they’re also a very long-standing client of ours. We’ve been working together for over nine years now! Every single time we step into the theatre with them, we are completely blown away by the sheer quality of their productions. It’s genuinely hard to believe that the incredible talent you see on stage comes from such young performers. The energy, confidence, and professionalism they bring to the spotlight is nothing short of remarkable.

Behind the Curtain: How We Filmed the Magic
Theatre environments are notoriously tricky to film. You’ve got rapidly changing lighting, massive shifts from bright highlights to deep shadows, and the absolute necessity for crystal-clear sound.
To tackle this, we utilised our compact, high-quality filming setup. This allowed us to deliver a beautifully polished final video while remaining completely unobtrusive to the live audience.
The Visuals: We used specialist cameras designed to handle varying light conditions with ease. This ensured we captured every vibrant yellow brick road scene and subtle performance moment with stunning clarity and depth.
The Audio: Great video is nothing without great sound! We worked closely with the show’s brilliant sound engineer to grab a professional audio feed straight from the main sound desk. This collaboration means the dialogue, live singing, and orchestral sound effects come through crisp and clean—something you just can’t rely on with standard camera microphones alone.
Once the final curtain falls, the magic continues in our editing suite. We carefully piece together the best angles, sync up the pristine audio, and deliver a final film that feels truly cinematic while staying entirely true to the spirit of the live performance.
More Than Just a Video: Preserving Memories
For us, filming a show like this is about so much more than just pointing a camera at a stage.

For parents and guardians, it’s a lasting record of a deeply proud moment—a chance to rewatch their child shine on stage and share that joy with extended family or friends who couldn’t make it to the theatre.
For the young performers, it becomes a treasured keepsake they can look back on for years to come, remembering the incredible friendships and magic they were a part of.
And on a practical level for CTC, these videos serve as a powerful marketing tool. It allows them to showcase the West End-quality of their productions to prospective students and parents, offering a true glimpse into the amazing opportunities they provide.

Putting on a Show of Your Own?
A huge congratulations to the entire cast and crew of The Wizard of Oz—you were all absolute superstars!
