Recently we have been fortunate enough to work with a community of women in Birmingham. We have been offering a platform to allow them talk about their mental health; by doing so they are not only supporting each other, but are also empowering others to seek help and support.

These brave women are sharing heart breaking and challenging stories. Many will resonate with people across the country – and the captured stories will be placed within a training framework to be rolled out across the country.

By listening to these stories we can compare them to our own, we can be challenged and step outside ourselves and our own busy lives for a moment – to ponder the challenges that other people may face. This can not only strengthen and embolden ourselves as we perhaps feel less alone, but can allow us to recognise perhaps when we are not at our finest, helping to seek support when needed or forgive ourselves when we need to.

By capturing these stories in video, we are making them stories sharable across the UK, without people having to go and deliver them in person.

Video in this case allows us to put it into a digital format and share these stories where are audience will be watching, at a time that is convenient for them. It allows them to re-watch and engage further when they may need it. The stories can then educate and inspire others.

Mental Ill-Health is a growing concern across the UK, the pandemic made things worse but it has been a growing issue since before then. And only by reducing stigma, talking openly and supporting each other will we be able to reduce the impact of mental ill-health.
